Our main focus during this time of year is sight fishing opportunities in shallow water for Roosterfish and large Snapper. The immense aggregation of these species, coupled with massive bait fish concentrations inside this unique, unpressured fishery, make the Summer Season a very target rich inshore fishing experience.

Having the right flies for the trip is important and we suggest you discuss options with us directly. Below is a basic suggestion. We also carry a selection of Baja favorites that are available for sale at the Lodge.
Roosterfish:
Bring a range of baitfish patterns, but we recommend:
3/0 crease flies blue/white and tan/white
4/0-6/0 EP style mullet fly tan+ blue/white
2-2/0 clousers chartreuse/white
Snapper and Grouper:
Similar flies to Roosters often just fished on Sinking lines depending on the situation.
General Salt Water flies to bring along:
Bait fish style profiles ranging from 1/0-4/0 Clousers and surf candies, Brush Flies 4/0-6/0, etc. There is so much bait, particularly mullet, on the flats, so colors such as tan/white, Black, and Chartreuse/White.Crease Flies and Double Barrel Poppers in 4/0 to 6/0
Mornings start cold at 60 degrees and feel colder running to the various fishing areas. Temps warm throughout most days to 90 degrees. The Pangas keep anglers dry for the most part but depending on the roughness you might get splashed so bibs and raingear prevent an uncomfortable ride!
