Explore the world's most prolific fisheries in 2025 & beyond

We’re hard at work expanding our hosted travel to some of the most breathtaking, untapped fisheries around the globe.

Cape York

Cape York showcases an incredible diversity of sight fishing targets, dissecting structure-laden mangrove banks, and voraciously feeding pelagic fish under droves of birds. Three flat targets are virtually endemic to this area: Anak Permit, Blue Bastards, and Black Spot Tusk Fish, which cannot be found in any other country.

The flats of Cape York are a vibrant ecosystem, teeming with life. Giant Trevally, Golden Trevally, massive Cobia, and the acrobatic Queen Fish are just a few of the common targets. Tunas and Mackerel can be seen tearing up bait just outside the flat, while the estuary systems are loaded with Barramundi and countless other species.

Oman

Adventurous fly anglers are starting to take serious note of the raw fly fishing opportunities here. Omani Permit have been making waves and you can score big numbers with both Africannus & Blochii species among rocks, beaches & strangely enough .. bait balls!

More backing dumpers with our unique Parrotfish, resident popper eating Bream, XL Queenfish and the most colorful fish on the planet - the Broomtail Wrasse. Oman has been consistently voted in the top 20 safest countries in the World and Omani hospitality is legendary. Widely regarded as the Switzerland of the Middle East the country provides a haven for many religions and cultures.

Colombia

The Rio Matavén is a world leader in the fishing of peacock bass, or tucunaré. This incredible river held the IGFA world record for many years for the species Cichla temensis, or speckled peacock bass, and today still holds several world records for tippet. The season for this fishery is January, February, March and April, summer time in Colombia, when river levels drop and conditions become ideal for fishing. This river has recently emerged after long periods without the visitation of sport fishermen, and now together with the indigenous Piaroa community there are special sport fishing regulations in place to protect it.

Tasmania

Since 1864, brown trout have flourished all over the island of Tasmania. With its remote and natural landscape, Tasmania’s interconnected lakes, rivers and creeks flowing into the sea coupled with an optimal climate year round has resulted in some of the most successful natural recruitment of trout in the world.

It is for this reason Tasmanian brown trout are widely regarded as some of the wildest remaining strains of brown trout in the world.

Southern New Zealand

When it comes to fly fishing for trout, South Island, New Zealand is about as good as it gets. NZ offers the ultimate in sight fishing to large trout with small flies. The scenery will take your breath away, and the hunt for large wild trout will keep you coming back year after year.

The trout fishing is in the stunning region of back-country Canterbury. Famous for it’s wild brown trout and picturesque scenery, this will be an all-rounded sight fishing experience.

Gulf Coast

Fly fishing for Bull Redfish, Big Jack Crevalle, and Black Drum along the Gulf Coast offers an exhilarating experience in some of the most pristine waters. Anglers can revel in sight fishing. Wading is often an option, providing an intimate connection with the environment and enhancing the challenge of the chase.

This area remains a hidden gem, often overlooked by many, which means fewer anglers + more opportunities for solitude and success. Capt Paul Sonnen needs no introduction, his enthusiastic personality and exceptional guiding skills will guarantee a fun day out.

XFlats, Mexico

The fishery of Chetumal Bay and the Xcalak Caribbean coast is a shallow water flats fishery, with runtime from the lodge 10-30 minutes away. Our 2 main targets are that of permit + bonefish, and we have daily chances to catch tarpon, snook, barracudas, jacks and more.

This is proven as one of the most reliable and consistent permit fisheries, and its uniqueness makes it one of the best places to chase permit. The depth of the flats range from less than 1 ft to 5 ft, creating the ideal fishery from foot or from boat. Our hosted weeks will give you a chance to try your luck using floating crabs to catch permit, this might be the ultimate challenge in fly fishing.
